Demand for HVACR Technicians
In August, we had the privilege of attending a meeting with leaders from the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA), and the United Association of Apprentices and Journeymen (UA). During that meeting, Mark McManus, General President of the UA, shared a staggering number: the industry needs 30,000 new HVACR recruits within the next twelve months. Among the fastest-growing opportunities, he noted, are data center cooling technicians, a specialization that’s rapidly becoming essential to our digital world. Demand for HVACR Technicians.
Why? Because data centers are the backbone of modern life. They power cloud computing, virtual machines, streaming platforms, social media, cryptocurrency, AI systems, and even the video calls we depend on every day. Behind every click, stream, or post is a climate-controlled room humming with high-tech HVAC systems, and those systems don’t run themselves.
This growth isn’t slowing down. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, recently said there are thousands of jobs for young people, thanks to an accelerating boom in data centers. They just have to be willing to go to trade school.
As the digital world accelerates, so does the need for those who can keep it cool. Data centers run on silicon chips and fiber optics. They rely on technicians with real hands-on skills to keep temperatures in check and systems online.
Now more than ever, HVACR professionals are the unseen heroes of the information age. Learn more about these opportunities during the National HVACR Education Conference. Three classes are scheduled on data centers.
