Schools want a S.T.E.M. initiative, embracing math and science. The challenge is how to implement this multi-disciplinary program without increasing any fragmentation/separation already existing between the classes.
With only 20% of a lecture being retained by the average listener, classes end up spending more time on one lesson instead of moving forward. This creates an environment where students are taught to memorize information without really understanding its importance.
In short, no connections are made, students forget what they learned, and then valuable class time must be spent reteaching lessons.
Aviation covers all the components of S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and can be expanded further into other classes such as English or History.
STEMPilot uses that in tandem with simulation to create a hands-on Project-based-learning environment that is; engaging for the students, easy for the teachers to apply in a multitude of learning environments, and virtually eliminates the fragmentation between classes.
This approach allows students not only to enjoy being in their classes but to apply their lessons to real-life circumstances. Being able to see, feel and experience lessons helps retain information much longer as well as provides students with a more holistic understanding of its importance and ties to the surrounding world.
