Steve F. Krar

Educator, Trainer, Author

Welland, Ontario

 

Steve Krar is a dynamic force, tirelessly promoting and educating experts and the general public about the merits of manufacturing and the rewards of manufacturing careers. Steve is a passionate advocate of technological training and an author whose textbooks on manufacturing have sold more than one million copies worldwide.

 

Now in his eighties, Krar continues to publish textbooks, magazines and newspaper articles and travels the world to learn about new and emerging technologies like nanotechnology and lean manufacturing techniques. In 2005, he launched the Productivity Development Center, to help Canadian companies learn more about productivity enhancing manufacturing practices. In 2006, he created a new online seminar series using the latest technologies to promote manufacturing education worldwide. In 2007, the first of his series of 50 articles on manufacturing and technology were published in the Welland Tribune newspaper. In 2008, Steve hosted and organized the 46th annual Advanced Technology Think Tank that brings together Canadian and American manufacturing and industry leaders to exchange views and information.

  • 21 years teaching machine trades and Director of the Technical Department. Coordinator of a group of 30 authors, who over the past 45 years, have written 75 books (Machine Tool, Manufacturing Technology and Lean manufacturing principles) with translations in four languages; circulation over 1,700,000 copies.
  • Educational Chairman of the Ontario Vocational Education Association for six years. Set up and coordinated 24 technological courses for educators with industries in the United States and Canada.
  • 45 years of educational and industrial research with emphasis on Machine Tools and Manufacturing. Technology Associate Director of the Partnership for Manufacturing Productivity program, an alliance of community college, technical institute and university instructors.
  • A Life Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • 2004 - Incorporated a new company, The Productivity Development Center, to provide Web-based self-teaching courses on all the pillars of Lean Manufacturing to anyone in the world.
