Capture the Spirit of the West: WACTE in Action 2011
June 7-9, 2011 Laramie, Wyoming
Excellent pre-conference workshops start June 6th sponsored by the Wyoming Department of Education. Please see the Conference-at-a-glance and the Registration form for more information.
Take special notice of the keynote speakers we have this year at our general sessions. Come learn some secrets to the art of academic integration. Speakers will share some projects that they have created to help students understand the link between the academic and the CTE classroom. Those projects have cut across the curriculum to other academic areas. They will share some strategies for integrating academics into your CTE classroom and how they plan for that integration.
You do not have to team up with other content teachers to notch up the academic rigor in your course. It can be done easily with a few techniques. So, come learn the how to answer those student questions like “Do I have to know this for the test?”, “Why are we learning this?”, and “When will I ever use this again?”
The following divisions develop the program for the conference:
Our board has set up an excellent conference with information for everyone. If you are a first-time attendee or member, or a continuing member, you must pay the WACTE dues and the dues of the appropriate division you belong to. The other dues are optional, but I would encourage you to join the national dues (ACTE) and the national association for your division. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me via e-mail.
Finally, please pass this on to anyone you think would be interested. Also, please pass this on to your counselors and administrators.
The early registration deadline is May 15 and I encourage you to register as soon as possible.
I hope to see you in Laramie—it is definitely worth your time!
